Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO announced the release of a new version of the company's desktop operating system - Windows 7.

There has been a lot of pressure on Microsoft to fix the mistakes they made with the Vista desktop operating system which was released in January of 2007. Vista has been criticized extensively for poor performance, reliability and compatibility issues. Despite attempts to solve the problems with software patches, public perception is still not positive toward the operating system.

This all puts a lot of pressure on the Windows 7 release to fix the Vista problems and restore public confidence. The demand for this improved version of Windows, surprised even Microsoft! They had to re-tool their servers to support the demand.

The good news, some reviews seem to be positive. The bad news, some reviews are not so great. Our experience thus far in testing has been positive.
