Farm Manager
Our client, based in Gretna, MB, is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead and oversee two swine multiplication sites. This role is responsible for maximizing genetic output, animal health, productivity, and overall operational performance, while supporting the adoption of modern farm technologies over the coming years.
This is a senior leadership role for an individual who combines excellent stockmanship, disciplined operational execution, and the ability to lead a team of six employees through ongoing change.
What You'll Do:
Operations & Production
Oversee day-to-day operations of both farm sites, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and high production standards.
Maximize reproductive performance, piglet output, and overall herd health.
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) across both locations.
Monitor key production metrics (farrowing rate, litter size, mortality, feed efficiency, health indicators).
Work closely with veterinary, genetics, and nutrition partners to continuously improve performance.
Leadership & People Management
Lead, coach, and develop on-site farm staff across both locations.
Build a strong culture of accountability, care, and continuous improvement.
Ensure proper training, performance management, and scheduling of farm personnel.
· Serve as the primary on-site leader for both farms.
Animal Welfare & Compliance
Ensure all operations meet or exceed animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Lead the transition to group housing systems, ensuring welfare, productivity, and staff competence.
Maintain excellent biosecurity discipline across both sites.
Modernization & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate, adopt, and integrate farm technology (data systems, automation, monitoring tools, feeding systems, etc.).
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce losses, and enhance data-driven decision-making.
Work with ownership on capital improvement planning and execution.
Reporting & Communication
Provide regular performance updates to ownership.
Track KPIs and report clearly on production, challenges, and improvement initiatives.
Proactively identify risks and opportunities across the operation.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience managing swine breeding or multiplication operations.
Strong understanding of reproductive performance, herd health, and biosecurity.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple sites.
Experience with or exposure to group housing systems preferred.
Comfortable adopting and leading technology and process change.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Willingness to be hands-on and present on both farms.
Valid driver’s license required.
