Project Manager

We have partnered with a local Winnipeg-based business that provides emergency restoration services to residential and commercial buildings to find an experienced Project Manager to add to their growing team! As the Project Manager, this pivotal role is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of mitigation and reconstruction projects. The role is divided into three primary areas: Emergency Response and Project Execution, Scoping, Estimating and Project Financials, and Sales & Marketing. As the lead member of the project team, the PM oversees the entire project lifecycle and works closely with Project Coordinators and Site Supervisors to ensure alignment across all departments.

The PM is responsible for responding urgently to new property insurance claims involving fire, water, mold, or asbestos, including participation in an on-call rotation. They conduct site assessments, document damages, prepare First Reports, and oversee mitigation work in compliance with IICRC and Manitoba Safety Standards. The PM also supports scoping and estimating by coordinating measurements, sub-trade quotes, and mitigation details to ensure accurate, timely estimates and profitable project execution. Strong relationship management, communication, and empathy are essential, as the PM will work closely with adjusters, brokers, property owners, and clients during stressful situations.

What You'll Do:

Emergency Response & Project Execution

  • Respond promptly to new claims during business hours and on-call rotation

  • Attend loss sites to assess damage and determine cause of loss

  • Compile photos, videos, and sketches into a comprehensive First Report

  • Obtain signed Work Authorization and develop a detailed Work Order

  • Coordinate and direct mitigation work by internal crews and sub-trades

  • Ensure compliance with IICRC and Manitoba Safety Standards

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients and stakeholders

  • Lead setup and kickoff of reconstruction projects, including pre-construction planning

  • Monitor site progress, quality, and compliance with building codes

  • Remain actively engaged throughout the build, offering direction and leadership to the project team

    Estimating, Scoping & Project Financials

  • Develop accurate scopes, measurements, and obtain sub-trade quotes per insurer protocols

  • Ensure estimates meet internal standards and are submitted within 10 days

  • Review and refine estimates for completeness, accuracy, and profitability

  • Respond to reviewer and/or adjuster notes/inquires within 24 hours

  • Facilitate a smooth handoff to reconstruction teams with approved scopes

  • Review and approve sub-trade invoices for accuracy

  • Identify and manage scope changes before work proceeds

  • Determine pricing for private work or scope changes through Change Orders

  • Monitor project budgets and margins; flag risks early

  • Participate in job post-mortem reviews for projects with low margins or poor survey results

  • Ensure billing milestones are met and assist with forecasting

  • Participate in monthly Production Meetings

  • Monitor accounts receivable and collaborate with management to address claim concerns or payment delays in a timely manner

    Sales & Marketing

  • Maintain positive working relationships with adjusters, brokers, and industry partners

  • Attend industry events and represent the company professionally

  • Deliver high-quality, responsive service across all stakeholders

  • Communicate with empathy and clarity with homeowners

  • Guide clients through the claims process and ensure satisfaction throughout

  • Proactively pursue new job opportunities and client accounts

    Collaboration & Other Responsibilities

  • Work with internal departments to resolve scope gaps or process issues

  • Provide timely information to internal departments to support workflows

  • Promote Health & Safety standards and support COR compliance

  • Assist in incident reporting and safety investigations as required

  • Stay current with industry practices, training, and relevant technologies

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in restoration estimating and project management.

  • Post-secondary education in construction or another related field would be an asset;

  • Project Management designation or related experience is considered an asset;

  • Knowledge of the restoration industry including tools, policies, safety procedures and materials;

  • Excellent attention to detail;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.);

  • Proven problem-solving abilities, with ability to practice sound judgement;

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with external clients and insurance providers;

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to adapt to and manage a constantly changing, dynamic workflow with proficiency and calm;

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License;

  • Ability to travel and attend the construction sites on an as needed basis;

  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with confidence;

  • Participate in on call rotation once every 8 weeks;

  • Ability to work independently and be a strong team player;

  • Ability to drive sales, grow customer relationships, and support business development opportunities.
